In Épingles d’Or (‘golden pins’), Hortense Bataille paints the pine trees of the Marseille coastline as dancing golden silhouettes against an intense cobalt-blue ground. The effect is both decorative and dreamlike – like sunlight caught in the branches at the end of the day.
At 200 × 150 cm, it is a true statement piece for a living room, dining room or above a bed, and pairs beautifully with rattan, wood and natural linen.
The crumpled paper technique
Each panel is printed on recycled paper and then crumpled and worked by hand, giving it a soft, textured, almost fabric-like surface – so no two pieces are exactly alike. A limited edition made in France.
How to hang
Delivered rolled in a cardboard tube. Hang it raw with pins or tacks for a relaxed, studio feel, add a pair of wooden hanging battens, or have it mounted or framed.
